The present Minority Caucus leadership in parliament has been compared to the galacticos, a group of super-star soccer players, by Sam Nartey George, a member of parliament for Ningo Prampram.
He underlined the necessity for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leadership to provide good management when determining who leads in an interview with Citi FM on January 25, 2023.
“What you have right now is a team of galacticos and a coach who can only field five, but has 10 superstars. How do you manage it?
“You have to explain to the person who has to be on the bench why he has to be on the bench and why somebody has to lead, and it falls on leadership,” the MP stressed after lamenting how there was a complete lack of consultation and engagement with MPs before their leaders were changed.
He urged the Council of Elders, the General Secretary, and the National Chairman to act right away to see that procedures are put in place to quell growing unhappiness with the changes.
NDC appoints new parliamentary leaders
The NDC’s National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, outlined the reasons for the party’s decision to change important members of its leadership in Parliament earlier this week.
The Minority Leader, the Deputy Minority Leader, and the Minority Chief Whip will all be replaced, the NDC announced in a letter to Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin through General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.
To take over as leader of the Minority Caucus in lieu of Haruna Iddrisu (MP for Tamale South), the NDC chose Cassiel Ato Forson (Ajumako Enyan Essiam).
