John Jinapor, the ranking member of Parliament’s Mines and Energy Committee, is advocating for cooperation in the fight against the nation’s unstable power supply.
He claims that despite the government’s and its representatives’ repeated denials that the unstable power supply was not a “dumsor,” there is a fuel issue, according to a report from Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo).
GRIDCo had previously reported, as seen by JoyNews, that maintenance problems and a scarcity of fuel were to blame for the power outage.
In order to guarantee a steady supply of electricity in the event that gas is unavailable, the report further demanded that fuel be made accessible to the Aksa Power Station and Kakatiya Thermal Power Station (KTPP) as a strategic stock.
On April 3, Mr. Jinapor commented on this article on Joy FM’s Top Story and recalled the PR stunts the administration had pulled over the power outage.
“What beats my imagination is how the government and its communicators could think that they can take all of us on that ride.
“It really beat my imagination that [with] 30 million Ghanaians you think that you can just take us on this ride with this flimsy excuse of so-called transformer overload.
“When transformers are not overloaded, it means that there is too much supply of power. So, why are we now curtailing the supply of power to our neighbouring countries?
“Now the official document from GRIDCo on their letterhead authenticated document establishes that we have been shedding load because of fuel challenges.
