Former Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) chief executive officer Henry Kwabena Kokofu has urged fellow lawmakers to refrain from supporting illicit mining in Ghana.
Speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” program, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) member advised people interested in the mining industry to practice responsible mining.
He emphasized that individuals engaged in responsible mining do not come into contact with water bodies and demanded a halt to illicit mining, also known as “galamsey”.
Politicians were advised by Henry Kokofu to refrain from inciting the galamseyers.
“We, the politicians, must come clean. While you are working hard to prevent it, then your colleague will stimulating them saying I will let you continue it if you vote for me,” he stated.
