The Eastern Regional Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) David Prah, has revealed why some party Executives in the region rallied behind Michael Okyere Baafi in the parliamentary primaries held on June 20, 2020.
Dr Mark Assibey-Yeboah, who is the chairman of the finance committee in parliament lost his bid to represent the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2020 parliamentary elections in the New Juaben South Constituency to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana FreeZones Board, Michael Okyere Baafi.
Mr. Baafi polled 372 votes against 200 for Assibey-Yeboah.
“In the primaries, some of us made our intention clear, people knew that we were supporting Okyere Baafi and we did that on a reason and that is his persona. In fact, his persona is a symbol of humility, hard work and patriotism” he said.
He explained that some of them opt for Baafi because he is a human-centred person, willing to help the needy and loves all.
“This is the time New Juaben has gotten theirs. New Juaben is the largest constituency in the region in terms of numbers, so we need numbers and truth to be told, Okyere Baafi has proven beyond all doubt that he loves Juaben and the region large so we will definitely get the needed number in the 2020 general elections” he said.
