Dr. Rashid Tanko, the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has emphasized the party’s demand for comprehensive statistics on the voter register from the Electoral Commission.
Dr. Tanko expressed frustration during an interview on Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney on November 7th, stating the Electoral Commission kept them waiting on Wednesday without providing the required statistics. Adding the NDC will not accept the hard drive until they receive the information they have requested.
According to him, the NDC want to have regional breakdown, that is; the number of voters in each region, voter demographics (number of female and male voters).
“We gave out our register back to the EC, but if other parties didn’t, that’s their problem. Because after all, the New Patriotic Party and the Electoral Commission are the same. We just need the statistics, and we won’t take the register until then” Dr. Tanko said.
The Electoral Commission reportedly promised to provide the statistics after completing their analysis, which the NDC agreed.
However, Dr. Tanko questioned the delay, suggesting it might be a ploy ahead of the general election.
