Mr Kankam Twumasi Daniel, the Eastern Regional and Juaben block coordinator for Pro-Alan group has stated that, in the realm of leadership and politics, few individuals exemplify resilience and determination as effectively as Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen.
According to him, Alan Kyerematen has navigated the tumultuous seas of Ghanaian politics, facing numerous challenges and setbacks, yet emerging as a formidable force and a symbol of unwavering commitment to his vision for a better Ghana.
He said, one of the defining moments in Alan Kyerematen’s political career came when he was appointed as Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States by President John Agyekum Kufuor in 2001. This diplomatic post provided him with the opportunity to represent Ghana on the international stage, building crucial relationships and promoting the country’s economic interests. However, his path to political prominence was not without its share of setbacks. In 2007, he contested for the New Patriotic Party’s presidential nomination but was unsuccessful, facing stiff competition within the party.
He added that, despite this initial setback, Alan Kyerematen displayed remarkable resilience. He remained committed to his vision for Ghana’s economic transformation and continued to serve his country in various capacities.
Again, he stated that his tenure as Minister for Trade, Industry, and Presidential Special Initiatives under President Kufuor’s administration allowed him to implement policies aimed at boosting Ghana’s industrialization and trade. His “Made in Ghana” campaign sought to promote locally manufactured products and create jobs, further demonstrating his unwavering dedication to Ghana’s economic growth.
In the years that followed, Alan Kyerematen’s resilience became increasingly evident. He continued to work tirelessly to build support within the New Patriotic Party and among the Ghanaian electorate. His perseverance paid off when he was appointed as Minister of Trade and Industry once again, this time under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration.
