The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is taking a meticulous approach to reviewing the final certified voter register for the elections underway.
The Electoral Commission of Ghana has released a summary of the final certified voter register in response to the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) request for more data beyond what was already shared with political parties. This move is part of the EC’s efforts to ensure transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, the NDC’s Deputy Director of Elections and IT, recently shared his concerns about discrepancies in the provided data during an interview with Citi News.
He expressed worries over polling station inconsistencies, prompting an NDC-led review of the register summary.
He stated, “We picked the register today with the summaries. So we are currently studying the register as a body and comparing that with their summaries. And then we also demanded their regional summaries because what they gave us was the national summary. It didn’t include the regional summaries.”
“Well-intentioned, we will look at that. Their segregation of the special voters from the main register. I mean, this is an innovation they are just creating. Their statement indicated that they have collapsed some polling stations, which of course we are not aware.”
“This is a new thing they have done. We have studied it. We will look at it. And then we think we will make our verdict clearer very soon.”
