The Electoral Commission of Ghana has warned that it will not watch anyone tear down its institution for no legitimacy.
The Commission said it is concerned about the attempt to undermine and malign the state institution that has been provided with the Constitutional mandate to conduct elections.
At the Let the Citizens Know series held in Accra, the EC, Deputy Chairman of the EC in charge of Corporate Services, Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, said the EC is an important vehicle in our democratic process.
He said it is a key institution of democracy and the Commission does not determine and cannot determine who wins elections in Ghana; the people of Ghana do.
According to Dr. Eric Bossman Asare, the Electoral Commission has never wavered in its belief that great work was done in 2020 and this has been corroborated by Ghanaians across all walks of life.
“Let the Citizen Know” initiative aimed at providing regular information on their core mandate to the citizenry and it was launched in 2020.
The initiative also erases tensions and suspicion that characterize the work of the commission by “giving facts as they unfold on the field”.
