The Member of Parliament for the Akuapem South Constituency who also doubles as a Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural development, Osei Bonsu Amoah has cautioned his colleague MP for Ningo Prampram Sam George, to desist from making “useless” statements about President Akufo-Addo.
According to the Lawmaker, the penchant of Sam George for derogatory remarks is becoming one too many.
“It is uncalled for. As a Member of Parliament, I expect him to know better than to be just making useless Statements about the President this is one of them. Some of us will not sit down for him to insult the President”
Last week, the Ningo Prampram Lawmaker secured an ex-parte injunction against the Electoral Commission over schedule meeting his constituency sighting that it was in breach of President’s directive suspending public gatherings.
However, the EC changed the venue to Accra City Hotel which the MP organized supporters of the NDC to mass up around the hotel to protest against the meeting.
In an interview with the media, Sam George said “The Electoral Commission is doing what they are doing, they have the tacit approval and support from the Flagstaff. President Akufo-Addo is endorsing the illegality and irresponsibility of the Electoral Commission. What has happened to the rule of law? Jean Mensa cannot do what she is doing if the Flagstaff House does not approve of her actions.”
However, these comments have angered the MP for Akuapem South OB Amoah describing Sam George as disrespectful.
“Sam George doesn’t respect. If you have an issue with EC why do you bring in the President to talk ill about him?”
Speaking to Journalists in his constituency, OB Amoah described the conduct of his Colleague Lawmaker as a dent on the image of Parliament. “The image of Parliament will suffer because of the behavior of such people. But respect is reciprocal if you respect, someone will respect you. If you don’t respect yourself and want to address issues with violence, you will lose the respect of those you expect to respect you. At the end of the day, if you go far and cross the line you can be dragged to privileges committee.”
