A 50-year-old, Kodah Tetteh, has been found dead in a galamsey Pit at Akateng a community near Asamankese in the West Akim Municipality of the Eastern.
The deceased, a private Security man was found dead in the mining pit filled with water.
His body has been retrieved and deposited at St. Dominic Hospital Morgue.
It is not clear if the deceased went to mine or died in the pit by accident.
Illegal miners in the Eastern Region have taken advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic which has taken the attention of Country to return to the site.
The illegal miners are mining everywhere including river beds with impunity.
