The Western North Regional Department of Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice ( CHRAJ) has held a sensitisation exercise for the general public on corruption and its consequences on the development of the economy.
In an exclusive interview with the Western North regional Director of CHRAJ, Mr Eric Kumi Ntaah, “the event is to educate the general public of their quarter to support CHRAJ to enhance the fight against corruption, which according to him is one of their mandated legal duty in the region and Ghana as a whole”.
He specifically indicated that article 218 (A) of the 1992 constitution has stressed the anti-corruption regulations of every public official and its sanctions.
According to him, the general public should report to CHRAJ any suspected or alleged corruption act of public officials for investigation and prosecution to improve the fight against corruption in the country.
That notwithstanding, Mr Kumi strongly cautioned all public officials in the Western North region to desist from any form of corruption act for they are not going to tolerate and refuse prosecution of any public official when caught in the said act.
