The Revenue Mobilisation taskforce from the Western Region of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has disconnected A-List Company, Namoro Forest, Ecood Roofing and other timber firms operating in the Western North for non-payment of debt amounting to GHc265,694.97.
The taskforce as part of efforts to recover monies visited these timber firms to honour their plight of paying their bills to help ECG function well in the region.
According to Engineer Albert Quansah, Sefwi Wiawso District Manager of ECG who spoke to Lord FM at Sefwi Bekwai, in the Bibiani Ahwianso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, however commended the managing director of ECG and management for the initiative taken to go round and collect the monies from section of companies owing ECG was a step in the right direction.
Engineer Albert Quansah attributed that the operations ongoing in the region has been successful devoid of problems and challenges and their vigilance in uncovering the illegalities, has propelled some of the companies paying their debt, and those unable to pay has been disconnected.
He, however, hinted that there has been a lot of challenges facing their work in the area of disconnectors flattering and putting on their power whenever they’re being disconnected, and finding ways in getting illegal meters called (Akua Donkor) and other villages and towns operating transformers when it goes off instead of calling on the ECG.
A South Korean resident, who has a timber firm operating in the Western North and owing ECG power was disconnected and Lord FM captured his voice begging the taskforce to restore power back because he’s facing financial difficulties had this tell the media.
