Occupants including children escaped any form of injury after fire gutted a six(6)-bedroom residential apartment at Sefwi Akaasu near Sefwi Bekwai, in the Bibiani Ahwianso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region.
The children and some adults who were in the house when the fire started at about 12:30am on May 15, drew the attention of neighbours who came to help contain the situation.
Fire officers were later called in when the fire became intense and spread to other rooms in the apartment.
Narrating the incident to Lord FM News, Madam Esi Mmrah, told Kwame Kontor Boateng that the cause of the fire is not known “which had got a her husband injured and hospitalized in the cause of saving his children.
Madam Esi Mmrah explained that the fire has burnt her money and an undisclosed amount of her cooperative organization money. She said the fire has destroyed her materials and other electrical appliances which she indicated that the fire was able to cause that much damage because the residents in the apartment tried to fight the inferno all by themselves until it the fire service came in.
The children who were rescued from the inferno told Lord Fm News how the situation has affected them greatly and cannot go to school since they don’t have any material thing to wear and appeal to government and NADMO to come to their aid.
Nana Yaw Boadi II, Nfatowohene of Sefwi Akaasu and doubles as Ankobeahene of Sefwi Bekwai traditional council stressed that, he got to the scene at exactly 1:15 am and the father of the children has been able to rescued the 8 children from the fire unhurt but called on the Sefwi Wiawso regional fire service which they came to quench the fire but it had already caused the damage.
“I am therefore appealing to the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Paul Andoh and Ghanaians to come to help the family who has been affected by the fire to help them”, Nana Yaw Boadi II emphasised.
