Former member of parliament for Bibiani Anhwianso Bekwai Constituency, Hon. Kwame Darko, in the erstwhile, late Jerry John Rawlings, PNDC administration, has opined that the current government need to focus more on planting for food and jobs programme to succumb to ease food crisis in the country and stop relenting to score political gains rather than to safeguard the situation.
In an interview with Kwame Kontor Boateng, Lord fm, Hon. Kwame Darko stated that the only thing to help the progress of planting for food and jobs programme is to help peasant farmers in the country and most especially those in Western North, through the provision of sustainable irrigation system to help farmers to provide on a large scale to feed the country.
He brought this to bare when the minister of food and agriculture lamented to effect that there’s no food shortage in the country, but to him is different,which our attention need to swift to irrigation and not always depend on rainwater always, but must do something during the dry season.
He, thus, asserted to the fact that, Western North Region, which use to feed the country with a lot of foodstuffs are now buying maize, rice etc from Techiman and Nkoranza which the warehouse built in Sefwi Bekwai-Naama, is not serving for its intended purposes, and rally Ghanaians to compare John Mahama’s administration to present day Akufo-Addo-Bawumia’s administration to ascertain best to live in.
Finally, Hon. Kwame Darko, entreats Ghanaian electorate to get themselves involve in the ongoing National Democratic Congress, branch registration and propel to fight hard to wrestle power from NPP come 2024 elections.
