The District Chief Executive of Juaboso in the Western North region, Kwabena Adjei-Asante has announced that its outfit has set in place measures to impede illegal mining activities in the area.
Speaking in an interview with the media, he hailed the Western North Regional Minister, Hon. Richard Ebbah Obeng for launching the special joint anti galamsey task force to deal with the menace.
Hon. Kwabena Adjei- Asante stated that the District Assembly has also deployed military personnel to battle the culprits of the illegal mining activities in the area.
“I’m indebted to my chieftain, Hon. Richard Ebbah Obeng for initiating the Special Joint Anti Galamsey Taskforce. We are fully in support of him. My outfit has fought the illegal miners with other tactical means, which my people are aware of, but they (illicit miners) bounce back as soon as we leave the scene. This has become challenging during the fight. However, I am in connection with the military and other security officers to deal with them on their blind side,” he stressed.
He also stressed “We have legal miners who have the prerequisite documents from the Minerals Commission. For them, we cannot fight them. But as a district assembly, we are collaborating with the chiefs, since they are the stewards of the lands to join the fight against the illegal miners.”
The DCE however, urged the public to remain firm, holding the Akufo-Addo-led government is on track to put the country on track amidst the covid-19 pandemic.
“We can break the eight. The customs of Juaboso and its vicinities wouldn’t have seen a vitiated road until the NPP came to our salvage. The majority of our roads linking the diversified neighbourhoods which were left to decay during John Mahama’s era have been tarred. This is what we want and undeniably the year of roads has been essential,” the DCE stated.
Touching on the issue of the fiscal catastrophes, he resolved that the eruption of Covid-19 has been the dominant element of the problem touting Ghana as a far blossoming economy ahead of other countries.
