Some aggrieved residents of Aboduabo a farming community in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, have threatened to boycott both this year’s Assembly Member’s and next year general elections if their road network leading to the town is not fixed.
According to them, even though they have complained countless times about the nature of the road on counters occasions to the necessary authorities, the road is still in a disastrous state.
Some of the residents who spoke to Hamza Mohammed said they feel neglected and betrayed by the politicians who promised to construct the road.
They questioned the essence of voting for any political leader when, according to them, they were ‘only going to be abandoned with their challenges at the end of the day.
The situation a resident noted that is affecting economic activities in the area as commercial vehicles have refused to ply the route.
The reason, according to them, is due to government’s failure to construct the roads leading to their town.
“Always when they come they say they will do the road, ‘vote for us, we will do the road’. So we have decided that in this coming Assembly members and next year general elections ‘no road, no vote”.
Another resident stressed that if the road is not constructed, “we do not want to see even ballot boxes here”.
They wondered what would happen if someone is sick or a woman is in labour with no car to send them to the hospital.
They threatened to deal with ruthlessly with politicians who will come the area for political campaigns.

“It is even more difficult for pregnant women to be driven to the hospital on those bad roads,” Nana Gyan Kwaw II Aboduabo Chief lament.
He feels deceived by the constant promises that go unfulfilled.
“We are farmers. We produce a lot of cash crop to support the development of this country, but yet still our road network is not. motorable why?,” he asked.
He therefore stressed that they are also part of the country and deserve to enjoy the national cake.
