Women have been urged to visit the hospital as soon as they miss their menstruation for checkups because it could be a different thing instead of pregnancy.
Mrs Janet Akomeah, a nurse at the Bibiani Municipal Government Hospital said this in an interview with Deetu Kwadwo Amofa on Okyeame Radio Adekyee Mu Nsem’s “health tit bit”.
She urged women to shun some bad and harmful practices during pregnancy like; visiting the hospital late after pregnancy, self-medication especially enema which can negatively affect the foetus or the unborn child.
She made mentioned standing for a longer period, eating white clay, bad dieting, and aggressive exercise among others as some bad practices pregnant women should distance themselves from.
The nurse again cautioned pregnant women to avoid smoking and drinking of alcoholic beverages since it can cause miscarriages, death of the child in the womb, developing disability on the side of the child, adding that the baby may be too smallish when born.
