In a recent press conference, the Research Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Abuakwa North constituency who double as the Eastern Region free SHS Coordinator, Nana Ofosu Asante Twum popularly called Nana Oat posed an intriguing question to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), asking why the spouses of their presidential and vice-presidential candidates, Lordina Mahama (wife of John Mahama) and Mr. Opoku-Agyemang (husband of Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang), are not actively involved in their campaign trail.
Nana Oat wondered if their absence is a sign of lack of confidence in the candidates or their vision for Ghana.
The wives of the Vice President, Dr Alhaji Mahamud Bawumia, Samira Bawumia, and the running mate Dr matthew Opoku Prempeh, Mrs. Opoku Prempeh is setting the pace for political engagement
Both women are actively campaigning for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), attending rallies, and meeting with constituents to promote the party’s agenda
Their visible presence on the campaign trail is a testament to their commitment to the NPP’s cause and a demonstration of their leadership skills, while others are sleeping, said Nana Oat
The NDC has yet to respond to this query, leaving many to speculate about the reasons behind the spouses’ noticeable absence from the campaign scene.
