Member of Parliament (MP) for Afigya Kwabre North, Hon. Collins Adomako Mensah, has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is fully aware of the challenges ahead as it prepares for the 2028 general election, stressing that no election is ever easy.
Speaking on Angel FM in Kumasi, the lawmaker dismissed claims that electoral victories come easily, describing such views as a misunderstanding of political realities.
“No election is easy. It is always a tough match. Anyone who says elections are easy does not understand politics well,” he said.
In order to give the NPP enough time to reorganize, resolve internal conflicts, and thoroughly prepare for the 2028 elections, the party decided to choose its presidential candidate early, according to Hon. Adomako Mensah.
“It was a good decision for the party to choose our presidential aspirant early so that we will have enough time to prepare for the 2028 elections,” he explained.
According to him, the party’s immediate focus is on internal restructuring and reconciliation, a process he said would continue throughout the year and is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
He expressed confidence that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would play a key role in leading the reconciliation efforts within the party, acknowledging that the process would not be easy but remains necessary for the party’s electoral success.
“I suspect Dr. Bawumia is going to lead that reconciliation process well. It is going to be tough, but the good thing is that we have time to plan and strategise very well,” he stated.
