Spanish club Celta Vigo have sent well wishes to Ghana defender Joseph Aidoo ahead of the blockbuster clash between the Black Stars and Nigeria in the World Cup play-off.
The first leg of the titanic qualifying tie will be played on Friday, March 25 at the Baba Yara Stadium. Four days later, the two giants will meet again in Abuja with the aggregate winner qualifying for the tournament later this year.
Aidoo, who has been on top form for Celta Vigo was included in the 27-man squad released by coach Otto Addo after missing out in the 2021 AFCON squad.
In a tweet, the club wished the towering guardsman good luck on his return to the Black Stars.
“Aidoo returns to @ghanafaofficial. The sky-blue defender, summoned by his team for the tie against @thenff ?? of the #WQC of Africa. Good luck Joseph” the Spanish club tweeted on Tuesday.
Aidoo’s explosive display has earned him the Player of the Month at the club for January and February.
He has featured 23 times in the ongoing La Liga campaign.
Having missed out in the last edition of the Mundial, the Black Stars are seeking to play in the World Cup for the fourth time having played in 2006, 2010 and 2014 in Germany, South Africa and Brazil respectively.
In head-to-head meetings between the two West African rivals, Ghana enjoys the superiority having won 25, drew 19 and lost 12 in 56 clashes.
