Nigeria captain Ahmed Musah says the Super Eagles are bent on making history by beating the Black Stars of Ghana in Kumasi.
The Super Eagles will play the Black Stars in a two-legged encounter with the winner securing one of the five slots on the African continent.
The first leg of the titanic qualifying tie will be played on March 25 at the Baba Yara Stadium before the reverse encounter on March 29 at the Moshood Abiola national stadium in Abuja.
Ghana’s last meeting against Nigeria at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium was in September 1990 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier
Saara Mensah scored the only goal of the game to give Ghana the win over their West African rivals in a packed stadium then called the Kumasi Sports Stadium.
Again, Ghana is unbeaten at the Baba Yara stadium in the last 22-years.
Despite talks about the history attached to the stadium, Musa has expressed his confidence that the three-time African champions have what it takes to secure a win.
“We have been hearing a lot of things. How they have not lost in that stadium (Babayara).
“If you remember the 2021 AFCON qualifiers when we played in the Benin Republic, they told us they have not lost there. We went there and won.
“I believe we will go there and make history by winning in Kumasi,” Musa said during Wednesday’s press conference in Abuja.
Nigeria has arrived at the Kotoka International Airport and will embark on a trip to Kumasi for the much-anticipated clash on Friday.
