November 17 has been set aside since 2017 as World Prematurity Day.
A day to highlight this prevailing problem, raise awareness of the needs and rights of premature babies and their families, increase public understanding of the value of knowledge and high-quality care provided by the health system and, as a result, promote policies that protect both children and families.
This year’s theme is “A Parent’s Embrace: A Powerful Therapy”, which promotes skin-to-skin contact from birth.
The technique has been established as highly advantageous and productive. It is employed after birth and offers many benefits, such as sustaining breastfeeding and stabilizing heart rate and blood glucose levels; it also aids relaxation and deep sleep.
It is essential to keep collaborating with families to support and direct them to provide the proper care for prematurely born children, A role that Nyaho’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit(NICU) is proud to perform to the max.
