CONCERNS OVER GROWING SECURITY CHALLENGES IN YENDI
I have noted with grave concern and heavy shock the escalating security challenges in Yendi township following the recent upsurge in robberies and shootings. Whiles I commiserate with families affected by the unfortunate and ugly incidents, the multifaceted insecurity calls for a collective and aggressive approach to arrest the situation.
It is no longer tolerable to see a land whose people, always known for their beautiful culture, hospitality, industry and entrepreneurship to now increasingly live in some state of fear and apprehension. These acts of criminality are highly condemanable and as such, as a representative of the people, i will engage key stakeholders and the security agencies to redouble our efforts to stem the tide of these unwholesome activities. I caution against the resort to violence and mob-actions by rightfully-aggrieved persons in our bid to seek redress. Even in our deep pain and anger, seeking for justice must be done within the ambit of the law.
We must initiate and sustain synergy among the security agencies. Hence, the Police, the Military, the Immigration, NIB and others must intensify joint operations to investigate and hunt down the criminal elements in our dear town. Drastic and ruthless action must be neccesary, and my office will give all the required support to key stakeholders to achieve the target of a crime-free Yendi.
