Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu, President of the Concerned Farmers Association, has stated emphatically that President Akufo-Addo doesn’t have the authority to declare a famer’s day celebration.
He emphasized this point during an interview on Bryt Adekye Mu Nsem with Kwamina Sam Biney on November 8th .
According to Nana Bonsu, the Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen represents all farmers and fishermen in Ghana, just like the Ghana Football Association (GFA) oversees all football clubs in the country. He stressed that no one, not even the President, has the authority to declare a Farmers’ Day without consulting his association.
“ You can’t just get up and say today is farmers day without informing our association, so today I Nana Oboadie Boateng Bonsu as the president for concerned farmers association is here on BrytFM saying that today is not farmers day and this coming from me not the station“.
Nana Bonsu labeled today’s supposed Farmers’ Day as “fraudulent” and “fake,” advising farmers to stay home and tend to their farms instead of participating in any celebrations. He suggested farmers should enjoy a quiet day, perhaps with a special meal with chicken or mutton rather than risking potential harm by attending unauthorized events.
