Founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Madam Akua Donkor has stated that Krobos have not been fair to the Electricity Company of Ghana over the ongoing installation of prepaid meters in Manya and Yilo Krobo respectively.
According to her, the Krobos must understand the current transformation of the country and accept prepaid metres by the ECG.
She called on President Akufo-Addo to intervene and find a lasting solution to resolve the disputes between Krobolands and ECG.
In an interview with Nhyiraba Nartey Solomon of Bryt Fm, Akua Donkor said that Krobos have caused damage to ECG properties and the government must hold them responsible for causing harm to the ECG properties.
“If I were the President, I would let them experience long periods of darkness for destroying several components of transformers at various substations in their areas” Akua Donkor said.
Meanwhile, residents of Nuaso in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality have alleged military brutality just some few days after power was restored to the troubled Krobo area over the weekend.
The residents narrated a team from Electricity Company of Ghana with military personnel who stormed houses in the Nuaso area to install prepaid meters subjected residents who refused to accept the meters to beatings, inflicting deep wounds on them.
Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of ECG in the Tema Region, Madam Sakyiwaa Mensah earlier disclosed that thieves have stolen earth cables, fuses and other components in the Krobolands.
Report also indicates that 81 out of a total of 147 substations which have been assessed by engineers in the Krobo enclave revealed earth cables, fuses and other components of their transformers had been cut and stolen by unknown persons in the krobolands.
