The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has affirmed that the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by John Dramani Mahama rejected the Manhyia palace when the NDC lost the 2016 presidential election.
Otumfuo indicated that the former President and his delegates were once regular visitors to his Palace when they were in power but they stopped visiting when the party lost the 2016 election.
According to Otumfuo, for politicians being consistent at the chief’s palace during their term in administration is not all, hence they should keep on visiting even when they are out of office.
This came to light when John Mahama visited the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to introduce his running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to Asantehene and Asanteman.
After the running mate was introduced, the Asantehene advised John Mahama to assess why he was voted out of office and tell Ghanaians the lessons he had learnt.
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, therefore, urged John Mahama and his running mate to cuddle a nonviolent campaign and election procedure.
