Young Apostles have reversed their decision not to continue the Ghana Premier League campaign despite earlier threats over bias officiating.
The Wenchi-based initially threatened Ghana Premier League boycott following their 2-2 stalemate in matchday 19 of the top-flight at the weekend.
Following an extensive deliberation and consultation, the club has decided not to boycott the Premier League.
“We had a meeting to review our performance in the first half of the season with management, and we have come to the conclusion that we will not boycott the league,” the club CEO Gerald Domfeh told Asempa FM. “We will continue to play and compete well in the league.”
“Our initial decision was based on grievances over unfair officiating,” he explained. “We were not happy with some of the things that were happening, and that influenced my decision to go on radio and threaten a boycott.”
Domfeh also offered an unreserved apology for his earlier comments, seeking to draw a line under the episode and refocus attention on the pitch.
“I apologise for my earlier remarks in which I threatened to boycott playing in the Premier League.” he added.
Having backtracked their decision, Young Apostles will travel to face Dreams FC in matchday 20 of the Ghana Premier League at the Tuba Astro Turf.
