Haruna Iddrisu, Member of Parliament for Tamale South and former Minority Leader, has characterized the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration as the worst of the Fourth Republic, citing economic hardship caused by poor performance and mismanagement.
At the Ashanti area’s Member of Parliament for Asawase’s campaign kickoff, he pledged that the NDC would investigate any wrongdoing or deception by the New Patriotic Party, particularly in the Ashanti region.
To stop election tampering, he emphasized the importance of monitoring the votes at the polls in December.
Given the NPP’s dismal showing in the Ashanti region, Mr. Iddrisu voiced optimism that the region would cast a large number of votes for the NDC in the next elections.
He pointed out that the NDC only needs slightly more than 35% of the Ashanti region’s votes to win.
He commended Muntaka Mohammed, the NDC’s candidate for the Asawase constituency, saying he was a strong legislator who would keep up his good work in Parliament on behalf of the Muslim Ummah and the people of Ghana.
Mr. Iddrisu pleaded with Ghanaians to grant President John Dramani Mahama an additional four years, stating that he would do much for the people of Ghana.
He restated his claim that the NPP is the worst administration in the Fourth Republic’s history.
“You saw the crowd this morning and we are seeing the crowd here. I hear the NPP saying that Ashanti is for NPP. Ashanti is only for NPP if they are performing. And Ashanti is only for NPP if businesses are good. Ashanti is only for NPP if unemployment was low. And therefore, we are optimistic that Asanteman will support John Dramani Mahama and support NDC to win.”
“We need just a little above 35% in Ashanti region and we declare John Dramani Mahama the winner of the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. That is our aspiration, and we must work towards that. Hon. Muntaka Mohammed is your formidable representative in Parliament.
“He will continue to do good to the people of Ghana and he will continue to serve the Muslim Ummah better in Parliament. He has done it before, and he will continue to do it.” He stated.
