Robert Ajene, a prominent member of the Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has accused Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of being disrespectful and is to blame for the party’s 2024 loss.
He believes that the NPP would not have suffered such a crushing defeat in the election if Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had been a listening president.
One of the numerous times the President failed his political party, according to Robert Ajene, was when he ignored the members of Parliament who voiced their displeasure with Ken Ofori Atta’s performance as finance minister.
“Our former president, Nana Akufo-Addo, did not respect the views of all Ghanaians when it came to certain issues affecting the welfare of the people. You wouldn’t listen to people; even your insiders say this particular person is not good. Move him, you refused,” he stated on Bolgatanga-based Dreamz FM.
Mr. Robert Ajene thinks Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is an excellent candidate for president, but his allegiance to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who had let Ghanaians down, prevented him from winning in his first run.
“Ghanaians don’t hate the NPP. Ghanaians didn’t like the leadership of the NPP. Ghanaians were happy that they had a leader that had come by destiny in the person of Dr. Mahamudu, but they thought by mistake, ‘he was so attached to Akufo-Addo to the extent that a vote for Baumea, you are voting for Akufo-Addo. That’s the mistake” he stated.
