China’s President Xi Jinping has congratulated Vladimir Putin on his re-election, stating it “fully reflects the support of the Russian people.”
Putin secured a record victory with 87.33 percent of all votes cast, based on official election data from 99 percent of polling stations.
The election, criticized by several Western nations for lacking genuine competition, saw Putin facing no significant challengers.
“Your re-election fully reflects the support of the Russian people for you,” Xi said on Beijing’s state media.
