Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) Mrs Kosi Yankey-Ayeh, has revealed that the main objective of the YouStart program is to provide total support for the youth across the country.
She explained the program is mainly focused on the youth with entrepreneurship training to upturn the employment rate in Ghana.
Speaking to Bryt Fm News, Mrs Yankey-Ayeh indicated Government intend to support young entrepreneurs with training, and technical skills and to gain access to capital to enable them to start a business.
Mrs Yankey-Ayeh further explained the program was an effort by the government to address the high youth unemployment rate in the country.
She disclosed the Agency is impacting training and skills to support the growth of the businesses among the youths to have access to the market and to create a energetic entrepreneurial economy by fostering the growth and development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs)
‘‘We need to back our youths on their business plans to stand firm. Young people who have passed the training and skills will get financial backup to support and improve their business,’’ Mrs Yankey-Ayeh said.
Mrs Yankey-Ayeh added the YouStart intervention is fully supported by non-government organizations, development partners, and the Government of Ghana as well as funding from the World Bank.
She, however, urged applicants to visit the YouStart Ghana online portal and visit the various district offices in the country to apply for the program to have access to business skills to improve and move the trade to a higher level.
The CEO assured that the government is bringing hope to the youths through the YouStart intervention to change the situation of young people in the country.
The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) formerly National Board for Small-Scale Industries (NBSSI) is a government agency under the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
