Mustapha Ussif, the minister for Youth and Sports addressed Parliament on Tuesday in response to questions posed on the status of various sports infrastructure projects across the country.
He spoke about the current status of the 10 multipurpose Youth Resource Centres being constructed across the country.
He explained “Five out of the 10 (Axim, Dunkwa-on-Offin, Dormaa Ahenkro, Koforidua, and Wa) are currently on phase 2 and works are expected to be completed and handed over by the end of the first quarter of this year”.
“Phase 2 of the remaining five (Yendi, Nyinahini, Kaneshie, Navrongo, and Ho) are expected to commence later in the year”.
On the New Edubiase stadium, the minister informed Parliament how several attempts to get the contractor of the project back on site have proved futile. As a result, the Ministry was left with no choice but to terminate the contract.
The ministry is currently going through the PPA requirements for rewarding the project.
