A 10-year-boy of Zambia Compound in Chambishi District on the Copperbelt has died from electrocution.
Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer, Peacewell Mweemba has confirmed to Mafken FM radio that the deceased, who has been identified as Joseph Musonda was in the company of his friends when he met his fate.
He explains that on May 28th, 2023, at around 16:30 hours, Joseph and his peers were playing with a stray wire. The deceased started swinging it, and in the process, it came into contact with a nearby ZESCO 33-Kilovolt power line, which unfortunately electrocuted him.
Mr Mweemba says members of the public who witnessed the incident rushed him to Twaiteka Clinic within the District where he died upon arrival.
Mr Mweemba reveals that the matter was reported to the police, who later visited the scene together with ZESCO officers.
He further adds that the deceased’s body has been deposited in Chambishi Government Clinic mortuary and an inquiry File opened has been opened.
