The Chipolopolo boys paid tribute to their afflicted skipper Enock ‘Computer’ Mwepu with T-shirts emblazoned with a solidarity message prior to the kickoff of the international friendly match between Zambia and Israel.
Mwepu was diagnosed with a hereditary heart condition in October which forced him into early retirement.
The Brighton Star represented one of the most outrageous talents of his generation having won an Under-20 AFCON in 2017 and played at the U20 World Cup in South Korea where the team reached the quarterfinals.
Since his U-20 success, he graduated to the senior team where he has been the heartbeat of the Chipolopolo until his medical condition forced him out of the game (at least for now).
In the team’s first assignment at the Hamosheva Stadium on Thursday night, the squad adorned T-shirts “Our captain, prayers and love from the Holy Land.”
On the pitch, Israel emerged 4-2 winners over Zambia in a highly entertaining match.
