The Landless to Mumbwa Road will be temporarily closed to traffic today on 19th January, 2023 until further notice.
The closure of the road has been necessitated by the partial wash away of the two culverts at Chiwena point along the Landless Corner to Mumbwa Road due to flash floods experienced in the area on 17th January, 2023.
The approach roads to the two culverts have also been eroded because of the heavy down pour.
The affected point is approximately 25 kilometres from Mumbwa roundabout and 90 kilometres from Landless Corner junction.
The Road Development Agency (RDA) has since dispatched Engineers to the site to immediately conduct an assessment and commence interventions to restore connectivity.
Members of the public and transporters travelling to Mumbwa from Kabwe are advised to go through Lusaka and use the Lusaka to Mumbwa Road. The same applies to the travelling public from Mumbwa going to Kabwe.
The RDA deeply regrets the inconvenience caused by the unfortunate event.
