Zambia National Service (ZNS) has been engaged by the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) to drain water from some flooded houses in Lusaka’s Kamwala South area.
This follows a heavy downpour experienced in the recent weeks that has affected Lusaka City.
Through ZNS, DMMU is working on constructing temporal drainages and canals to enhance the flow of the rising water levels in the affected areas.
ZNS land development branch moved on site last week and commenced works to pump out water from houses that have been submerged, and from open drainages.
While an amicable solution is been sought to drain water from Kamwala South Health Post, ZNS has so far drained water from some flooded houses.
