President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe has declared a national disaster to address the ongoing drought crisis
He says the country requires $2 billion to combat hunger resulting from low rainfall, which has severely affected maize crops.
This grain shortage has led to increased food prices, as approximately 2.7 million people are at risk of suffering from hunger.
Nearby Zambia and Malawi have also declared states of disaster due to drought.
