Mrs Emma Ofori Agyeman, Acting Chief Director of the Ministry of Health has paid a working visit to Zipline at Omenako-Suhum in the Eastern Region.
The visit forms part of her first since assuming office three months ago, which was to inspect the facility and see how Zipline collaborates with the Ministry in making health care accessible as part of the Government’s readiness towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Mrs Ofori Agyeman and her delegation were taking through the operations of the company’s three main divisions, the Medical Supply Storage, the Packaging Unit and the Drone Launching Unit.
The Fulfilment Operations Lead of the facility, Mr. Nathaniel Nartey said that Zipline works directly with the RMS, National Blood Service Supply and the EPI who supply them with medical products, blood products and vaccines for distribution.
He further revealed that Zipline makes about 2500 to 3200 deliveries daily, serving about 726 public Health facilities including CHP Compounds in the Eastern and Central region of Ghana.
A demonstration was made on how deliveries are done with the drones, after which a presentation was made by Mr. Kwasi Owusu Antwi, the Country Lead for Health System Integration to brief the delegates on the successes and challenges of Zipline Ghana.
Mrs. Ofori Agyeman in her closing remark showed appreciation to Zipline-Omenako for the wonderful experience as well as ensuring that there is equity in healthcare delivery and urged them to maintain their brand and professionalism.
