One person has died, while 10 others have sustained injuries in a fatal road crash on the Somanya-Nkurakan Highway in the Eastern Region.
The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Akode No. 2, a community before Asseseso.
The deceased, a male driver, reportedly died on the spot, while the 10 injured persons were rushed to the Yilo Krobo District Hospital in Somanya for treatment.
The crash involved two Hyundai H100 passenger vehicles, with registration numbers ER 1660-21 and ER 1564-21, which reportedly collided head-on while travelling in opposite directions.
Fire officers from the Lower Manya Krobo-Kpong Fire Station responded to the scene and worked to extricate the deceased driver and injured passengers who were trapped in the vehicles.
The cause of the accident has not yet been established, while investigations are ongoing.
