The Akwatia District Police Command of Ghana Police Service has launched investigations into an alleged assault on Alhaji Masawudu Osman during the Akwatia byelection on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
According to a statement signed by DSP David Fianko Okyere of the Eastern South Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, the complainant was issued with a Police Medical Form to seek treatment and return for further action.
The case has since been referred to the Eastern South Regional Police Command for continuation of investigations.
“The complainant was issued with a Police Medical form to attend hospital for treatment, endorsement and return same to Police for further investigations.

for further investigations”.
Police say updates will be provided as inquiries progress.
The statement by Police follows calls by the NPP and other political analysts for arrest of the NDC National Vice Chairman Sofo Azorka who attacked Alhaji Osman Masawudu, third Vice Chairman of NPP during an interview with the media.
