Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, a former health minister and member of parliament for Ledzokuku, has urged the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to issue an apology o Ghanaians For Statements It Made About The State Of The Presidential Falcon 900 Aircraft When In Opposition
According to Dr. Okoe-Boye, the NDC had insisted that the aircraft was in pristine condition, but is now suggesting that it is not fit for purpose.
The former lawmaker, who is currently running for the opposition New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Greater Accra regional chairman, emphasized the importance of holding political actors accountable for their remarks while in opposition.
His remarks coincide with the continuing controversy surrounding President John Dramani Mahama’s brother Ibrahim Mahama’s continued use of his own plane for official travel, which raises questions about a possible conflict of interest.
Dr. Okoe-Boye stated on Monday, March 16, during an appearance on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show, , “With where the NDC has taken us, apologizing to Ghanaians will be the best way to go.”
“They need to be frank with the people of Ghana that they were wrong and that they insulted Akufo-Addo for nothing. In fact, listening to the Chairman of their party at the time, he said that Akufo-Addo is bathing in the plane, so people shouldn’t drink rainwater because they might be drinking Akufo-Addo’s urine.
“This is how low they brought the argument. Akufo-Addo wanted the flashiest private jet, that was why he was not using our presidential jet.
“Let them come out and tell the people of Ghana that look, we lied to you, and that at the time Akufo-Addo was using the private jet, our presidential jet was so bad that he wouldn’t have used it. If they admit that they were wrong, then of course we are in this country together,” he said.
