The Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, has commenced the second day of her official working visit to the Bono Region with a courtesy call on the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboah.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the Deputy Minister to brief the Regional Minister on the persistent challenge of maternal mortality in Ghana and ongoing efforts by the Ministry of Health to accelerate interventions aimed at reducing preventable maternal deaths.
Prof. Dr. Ayensu-Danquah called for the Regional Minister’s support and collaboration to strengthen healthcare delivery across the region, particularly at the teaching hospital and other health facilities.
She also appealed for support for medical doctors, nurses and other health professionals posted to the region, noting that creating a conducive working environment and supporting health personnel would be critical to ensuring quality maternal and other essential health services.
The Deputy Minister emphasised the need for strong collaboration among the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service, Regional Coordinating Council, health facilities and other stakeholders to address the factors contributing to maternal deaths and improve health outcomes in the region.
The Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboah, expressed enthusiasm about the Deputy Minister’s visit and commended her for the efforts being made to address maternal mortality and other health challenges across the country.
He welcomed the engagement and expressed his readiness to support initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare delivery and improving the wellbeing of women and communities in the Bono Region.
