Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Augustine Asante Kusi has called for stronger community engagement and effective communication between the Police Service and the public to promote peace and security.
He said the Police cannot rely solely on office-based work but must regularly engage communities, schools, churches and the media to educate the public on security and the law.
ASP Asante Kusi made the remarks when he visited an SDA school to engage students as part of efforts to strengthen public education and community relations.
He explained that his approach is to go directly to schools and communities to educate people about what they need to know, rather than remaining in the office.
He also stressed the need to strengthen the police service to enable officers to effectively respond to security challenges.
ASP Asante Kusi further encouraged the public to take security and the law seriously, emphasizing that ignorance of the law does not exempt anyone from responsibility. He urged individuals to educate themselves and avoid actions that could lead to conflict with the law.
