Hundreds of People are currently attending a funeral at Akyem Nkwatanan in the Kwaebibirim District of the Eastern Region in blatant disregard for private burial order.
In a recent address, President Akufo Addo eased restrictions on public gathering.
The President stated that beginning Friday, June 5, 2020; a total of 100 people can now attend private burials and wedding ceremonies and same for church services and mosques for prayers but with other guidelines.
However, on Saturday morning, hundreds of mourners trooped to a funeral at Akyem Nkwatanan without observing social distancing and wearing of nose masks protocols.
Health officials in the community are worried over the situation and want the Police to take immediate action as many of the mourners are coming from various parts of the country.
Ghana’s COVID-19 case count now stands at 9,168 after 283 new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, over 260 people who were infected with the virus have now recovered taking the country’s total recoveries to 3,457.
Active cases stand at 5,669.
The Ahafo region remains the only region out of the 16 regions in Ghana yet to record a case of COVID-19 so far.
