Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President has said his administration has recruited ninety thousand, six hundred and ninety-six (90,696) permanent and temporary healthcare workers from 2017 to July 2020.
He said Out of the total employed, twenty-nine thousand, five hundred and eighteen (29,518) are temporary staff, whilst the remaining sixty-one thousand, one hundred and seventy-eight (61,178) are permanent.
Nana Akufo-Addo said this when he cut the sod for the commencement of construction of the La General Hospital Redevelopment Project.
The president said upon his assumption of office in 2017, his administration started recruiting doctors, nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals, and other support staff, who were unemployed after completing their mandatory horsemanship rotation or internship.
He reiterated the commitment of the Government to improve Ghana’s country’s healthcare infrastructure and move the country steadily towards the goal of achieving Universal Healthcare Coverage for all.
