Controversial social media activist Kwame Asare Obeng, known as A Plus has disclosed that the president is surrounded by many criminals and that is what makes his fight against corruption seem almost impossible.
According to the musician, this is very bad for the president since the wrong people around him can dent his image.
“There are many criminals around the president. Too many people want to use his government for their personal interest and it will affect his legacy”, he said.
“This is someone we have been with and helping the President protect the public purse by fighting corruption. Some people around him have decided to fight us; which very wrong” he added.
Adding his voice on an interview with Roland Walker on the AM Show, he complained about the several attacks on him after he revealed the government’s shortcomings.
He mentioned that the president upon taking up the mantle to lead the country beckoned the citizens to help him govern the nation and not just spectators.
Insisting that this plea from the president is insulting if his own people can’t protect the citizens from corrupt people.
“The president told us to be citizens and help him protect the public purse. When he came to power, that is what we wanted to do for him. Protecting the public purse comes with issues that people don’t want to hear.”
He added that the president has given the various appointees too much liberation to practice corruption.
“Nana Akufo-Addo knows some issues that are not right but I think it is very difficult to lead the NDC and NPP. The institution itself is built on corruption, so even if they put you on top as the leader, the guys will come to you and force you to be one of them,” A-Plus said.
