A yet-to-be-identified woman has aborted an innocent fetus and dumped it inside the Nsukwao River (Nsukwao), a suburb of the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua in the New Juaben South electoral area.
Eyewitnesses of the scene alleged that the woman conducted the operation secretly at home before dumping it into the gutter with the mindset of having the water wash away the fetus but the baby, unfortunately, got stuck among the choking weeds.
According to them, the aborted baby is presumed to be about five to six months old with fully developed body parts.
The matter came to the public field when residents of Nsukwao area discovered the baby already dead in the river.
The Assemblyman in the Nsukwao electoral area, Hon Moses Agbesi promptly call for the police to review the case and have the aborted baby taken for postmortem.
The assemblyman for New Juaben South electoral area, Hon Moses Agbesi has then cautioned the youth to desist from aborting innocent babies.
According to him, women should be well prepared before they play games that will result in pregnancy.
During a one-on-one interaction with Bryt FM reporters, Hon Agbesi persisted that he won’t tolerate such an act happening in his community as far as he is concerned because it tarnishes the name of the community.
“If you are not prepared to have a child, just wait till when you are fully set before embarking on the pregnancy journey. Those babies you keep aborting could have been great persons in the future,” he bitterly advised.
He added that anyone who will be found in such deeds will not be spared but will face severe punishment.
