A university lecturer with All Nations University and Ghana Technology University in Koforidua has been remanded by a Circuit Court in Koforidua for resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer and a Prosecutor.
The Lecturer identified as Francis Ayensu is the owner and Director of Freelance Investment Consult Limited company in Koforidua .
He was however accused of refusing to pay his workers social security contribution from January, 2020 August, 2020 totalling GHc 422.12 despite efforts made to get him paid .
He was served criminal summons on December 14, 2020 but failed to appear in court .
He was subsequently communicated to on the next court date but still didn’t show up.
The Prosecutor with SSNIT then secures a bench warrant for his arrest but the accused violently resisted arrest and allegedly incited some youth to attack the arresting Police officer -Lance Corporal Nuhu and the Prosecuting officer Isaac Nana Yaw Mbatini.
He was later arrested,charged with the offence and put before court .
The judge remanded the accused to reappear on April 26,2021.
Mybrytfmonline.com has gathered that, Counsel for the accused lecturer was preparing to file application for bail for the accused.
