The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Bawku Central and Member of Appointments Committee, Mr. Mahama Ayariga has said that the Special Prosecutor nominee, Kissi Agyabeng has recommended for approval because there wasn’t any reason to reject him.
According to him, Parliament will this week debate the report of its Appointment and consider his approval or otherwise.
He continued that the endorsement the nominee received was because he satisfactorily met the legal requirement of the position adding that that committee has agreed that he is eligible to be the Special Prosecutor, and they recommended him to parliament for approval.
Mahama Ayariga went on that the committee asked the questions, and he gave the responses.
“The basic thing we looked at was the requirements of the Act on who qualifies to be a Special Prosecutor. He met all the requirements,’’ said Mahama Ayariga.
Mahama Ayariga classified that all his qualifications show that he is capable of being the Special Prosecutor and that is usually the main thing the Committee looked for.
Speaking in an interview with an Accra-based radio station, Mahama Ayariga affirmed that there were no issues to disqualify Kissi Agyabeng.
Mr. Agyebeng will be the second person to occupy the Office after the premier occupant, Martin Amidu, resigned under controversial circumstances after almost three years in office.
