Chiefs and residents of Akorwu-Bana, a farming Community in Yilo Krobo Municipality in the Eastern Region have called on the government to complete and operationalized a CHPS compound which is almost completed but left to rot.
The CHPS compound started under the erstwhile Mahama administration was left with the installation of essential utilities and furnishing the Akufo Addo-led government abandoned it.
“The health facility which is left with electricity, manhole, toilet facility, and staff to commence its operation has been abandoned, a situation which is creating inconvenience to the people of the community and its environs” resident said.
The Assembly Member of Akorwu-Bana Electoral Area, Michael Padi Tetteh Ahusa said, the absence of a health facility in the community has caused lots of deaths in the area.
“When a community member is sick, they have to carry the person to the next community to have access to the vehicle before the person will be transported to either Klo-Agogo Clinic or the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua since their road is in a deplorable state which makes it difficult for vehicles to ply”
The health facility when completed will serve communities like Obusumasua, Adupey, Asiafo, and Amanfro. The community members are also pleading with the government, NGOs, and philanthropists to help construct the road leading to the town since it is in a deplorable state.
